Carafa I is a lightly roasted, dehusked-optional dark malt from Weyermann, used in small amounts to add deep color and a smooth, clean roasted character to porters, stouts, dunkel lagers, and Schwarzbier without harsh astringency. Distinct from Carafa Special — the Special series is fully dehusked.
